I’m Amanda Jami, a minimalist hairstylist with a passion for sustainable beauty and natural looking, healthy hair.
This blog was inspired by my desire to empower you to feel confident with your hair. I will help you to make hair choices that will work with your lifestyle as well as your personal aesthetic. In this blog, I will arm you with the knowledge of how to select the right cut and color for your face shape and skin tone and complexion as well as tips and tricks to style, manage and care for your hair.
Hair is way beyond the superficial. There is a deep psychological connection between our grooming, self care and how we go about our daily lives. The more we care for ourselves and take the time to feel beautiful, whatever that means for you as an individual, the stronger we feel when we go out into the world.
About me
I am currently based in SMUK London, in the beautiful Belgravia neighborhood of London. When you come to have your hair done with me you can expect a full consultation. I will ask you about your hair history, your preferences and your goals. It is my priority to understand your needs, and I take very seriously the trust you give to me when you sit in my chair. I started doing hair at the ripe young age of 17 back in Johannesburg South Africa in the late 90’s (I’m giving away my age here). The business took me on many adventures, working on shoots, shows, TV and advertising as well as in salons. Since then, I’ve moved countries twice and enjoyed an enriching and rewarding career.
One of the things I love the most about my work is the people I meet. Connecting with people from around the globe through my writing and hairstyling inspires me and drives my passion to learn and to grow both personally and professionally.
